A major defect is the below-average durability that has been consistent in all games. The soft suspension allow excellent off-road prowess while the sufficiently powerful engine allows decent acceleration and top speed. The next contender is the BF Injection, which is an off-road built Volkswagen Beetle. It was also available at a few hidden locations but that does not improve much of its accessibility aspect. At that stage, it becomes almost impossible not to die while you snatch the car and fetch it to safety.
In III, VC and SA, it was strictly a military car that appeared on roads provisionally if you had a 5-star heat level. Only in GTA IV and V did it become a civilian car. However, what hinders it from claiming the first spot is its accessibility in the H1 guise. It looks cool, is sufficiently durable, is fast enough and corners better than some other SUVs. Amongst these, the Patriot (Hummer H1 in GTA III, VC, SA and H2 in IV and V) has consistently been a top pick. GTA III had only three off-roaders – Bobcat, Landstalker and Patriot. Off-roading has been a big fun activity in GTA for a long time.
